Dong Kong Café - Hawkesbury

Friends from Ottawa recommended Dong Kong and we weren't disappointedKeep in mind - it is what it is - small town Chinese Canadian food.

Ok.. this restaurant cannot be compared to high end buffets and restaurants..but it is unique.This restaurant serves Canadian style Chinese. It's great for kids, because its not overly spicy.What I really appreciate about this place is the great prices, fast delivery, and the fact that they cater to low fat, low salt and vegans.Peggy at Dong Kong takes really good care of me, and is really good at special orders.Call them for take-out, or dine in.If you ask, I'm sure they can whip you up a special authentic dish.And, their tofu is the best in town!

This was my first time in the restaurant since I was a child, sadly the décor hasn’t changed in 20 years. We used to order out Chinese food from Dong Kong Café, their take out menu is pretty good. Unfortunetely, the buffet doesn’t have a vaste variety that you would find in larger cities, but it’s not bad either, just OK. But when you crave Chinese food and you don't want to go too far...

Ordered from Dong Kong Cafe several times now, always for takeout. The ambiance and decor in the restaurant needs a little updating. They have a buffet counter on one side and a bar at the back. Kind of reminds me of a rental hall rather than a restaurant.But the food is pretty good. Meaty garlic spare ribs. The Soo Guy can be a a bit greasy at times, but they have a decent mix of different Cantonese, Szechuan, and Hunan dishes. You;ll have to ask for spicy if that's your thing. Most of the dishes like Hunan Beef or such have very little heat. It's not the best I've ever had, but certainly worth the price.

As a plant based eater, its hard to find good, healthy vegan fare in Hawkesbury.Dong Kong Cafe offers a great, varied omni and vegetarian menu, and was able to add tofu to my Buddha's delight. For 12.40$, i have two meals.It was fast and hot.They also have a buffet if you want to dine in. Owners were very friendly and efficient.
