We got there a little early, maybe 11:30 am but by 12 the place was rocking! This is an experience you don't want to miss...Authentic and delicious. Complete with chop sticks.
OMG - now 8.17pm and we've had greens, some pork and backed up with prawn crackers...thank God for the wine! The food is great, when it comes, but we are dying of hunger. Asked for Salt and Pepper Prawns, told they don't have them, saw them come out to another table! Thing is, just not us. Solidarity amongst the hungry. Shame, food is good but no idea of service recovery - bring me a free plate of prawn crackers! Verdict: great for a lunchtime yum cha, diabolical for a la carte. 8.50pm and we've eaten Happy eating!
Dinner with family and some new delights. My brothers partner is Chinese and did the ordering.Suckling pig with Jellyfish, San choy bau, Peking Duck, Roasted Pork with Chinese Vegetables. My only disappointment was the dessert which was like a red bean soup. I could not bring myself to eat it at all and thank you to Ryan who sensed my difficulty and brought me some watermelon. Now now night was complete. Thank you Ryan
Our experience at this convenient China Town restaurant was very positive. A lot of the latest reviews posted are negative but we couldn't fault the place. We were recommended East Ocean by a friend who eats out very often. The restaurant was was fairly quite so we had very attentive wait staff and the food was fresh, plentiful and tasty. The Wagyu Beef and Salt & Pepper Calamari were highlights.
Went here for yum cha lunch to celebrate a birthday. Our table was three adults and an infant (in a baby high chair). If you find the charges list, they do mention the prices for each dish size, a $1.50 cover charge and a $2.50 for tea and cover charge. When we saw the bill, there were three charges of $2.50 for tea and cover charge and one charge of $1.50 for cover charge. When I asked did they charge for the baby, the response was no, the cover charge was for the sauce (pointing to the chilli sauce). So either they were lying (i.e. they charge a cover charge for babies) or they charge for sauce. Both are equally bad in my view.
