The bathrooms are in bad shape. Paper towel dispenser didn't work in the men's wash room and there was no soap available. My wife said the women's wash room was no better. Wouldn't go back again.
We were a party of six, it was our parents 60th wedding anniversary, they live in Hubbards for the summer so we thought it was a great place to go. Our reservations were for 6, the restaurant was pretty much empty when we arrived. The waitress informed us there was no seafood chowder, no haddock chowder and no fishcakes. Very disappointing as we were looking forward to chowder. When we were ready to order dessert she informed us there were no cakes available whatsoever, only two pieces of coconut pie. We ordered the two pieces of pie and gingerbread after waiting quite some time for the gingerbread she informed us there was none left. We ordered bumbleberry pie only choice left which took 15 minutes to come. No acceptable service for any restaurant. The menue should reflect what's available
Stopped here while driving the southern coastal route of NS. When we arrived, we were basically ignored although the restaurant was not crowded. We finally got a waitress's attention and were told to sit where we wanted. There were no clean tables but we sat down...she eventually took our order and then wiped crumbs off half the table. Food was extremely slow coming to us...we had to ask for silverware as did several other patrons...hard time getting drinks...she was rude... absolutely terrible service. I rated it a 2 rather than a 1 because the food was good but not worth the wait...it was a terrible experience for us and for other patrons.
My father and I popped in for a quick Sunday lunch and enjoyed our meals very much. The seafood chowder was absolutely amazing. Probably some of the best I've had and better yet… Gluten-free. That's a rare find in Nova Scotia. As a seafood chowder lover that has a wheat sensitivity – I can't tell you how exciting it was to discover this fact!
Three of us arrived after 1 pm, after the lunch crowd was finishing. The large cup (bowl) of seafood chowder was full of hot seafood but warmish broth. The bread served with the meal was freshly baked and delicious. I had coconut cream pie which was the best I have ever had. She had butterscotch pie and loved every bit. Our third party was full to the brim and couldn't eat pie.
