La Chaumière des Marais - Herbignac

Of course we were expecting a lot, and we were not disappointed. My foie gras starter huge and delicious, the vegetables for the main course divine and the dessert rounded it off so nicely. And even the kids were entirely happy. Don't miss this!

We visited this traditional restaurant on Christmas Day part of a family lunch. The restaurant is located in a traditional house well renovated and very easy to access just on the side of the road from Guerande to Herbignac.The food was extremely fine and we could quickly see the talent of the chef. He used local and seasonal product to create a fantastic 3 course menu. My wife ordered dear meat which was delicious and so were my scallops. We finished with a brilliant and fine orange chocolate dessert.As the Michelin guide would write it, a place that worth you making a detour for it.

Our hotel restaurant was closed one night and once again, my fluency in French lead us to this gem of a restaurant, being the only 'etrangers' dining that night. In a beautifully, cozy ancient dining room with a garden sits this wonderful restaurant that is a true find. Everything is perfect. The authentic ambiance and the warmth of the owners who run the restaurant. The menu at around 30 euros is generous in many ways but it is the amazing quality of the ingredients and the flavors of each dish that makes this place a 'must' if you are in this petit coins of Bretagne. The Langoustine tartare was sensational. Every vegetable that accompanied each dish was bursting with flavor and seemed as if it had been pulled out of the owners garden that morning. I had a magret de canard infused with fresh herbs and a light vegetable juice/sauce that was delectable. My partner took the 'fresh fish' of the day and he was licking the plate. Very reasonable wine listand I suggest you try a local Sauvignon blanc from the Pays-Loire as they are more full bodied and complex than what is sent to the U.S. Ours < I am sure, was a small label that sells only in the region. If you find yourself in this lovely corner of Brittany, this restaurant will be an added plus.
