Carilley Estate - HERNE HILL

The personal went beyond and beyond to provide for an event we held here, and a private table among the trees near the children's playground to meet our needs with many children. I am so impressed by Carilley...and their beautiful people, excellent customer service, beautiful anwesen and delicious food! we look forward to the return!

Over the years, the quality of the food at this restaurant has declined from good to mediocre and the prices have become extremely high. I paid $18 for a mojito served in a small, large glass and could barely taste the alcohol. The pork belly had no seasoning and was bland. The $36 dish of carrots was dry and lumpy, lacking butter or cream in the mash. It's disappointing because the restaurant has potential. Hopefully, the new owners can improve the overall experience.

We paid over 80 dollars for 2 fish mains and a drink. The barramundi was overcooked and rubbery, the menu said pea puree, which was not on the plate. Only a few loose peas. Crumbed fish was crispy, the hand cut chips were not....They were only fried once and tasted oily. We had prebooked a table for 2 on their website outside undercover) and there were only tables set up for 6 outside. We will not come back again.

Being a stunning spring like winter's day my wife and I decided on a Friday lunch visit here and the Swan Valley. My wife's sirloin steak served with mushroom sauce was delicious and cooked perfectly as were the roast potatoes, I had the grilled barramundi...with sweet potato mash and tomato salsa which was excellent. I had a very nice glass of their own red a cabernet sauvignon. We finished with sharing a desert a creme brulee which was not only generous in size but came with icecream and a berry compote which was absolutely beautiful. Charlie the manager was efficient and was very friendly and personable. He is a credit to his profession. This place is as good if not better than some of the upmarket places on West Swan Road. We have dined at Carilleya a couple of times before and they were always very enjoyable visits. Well done.

If you are thinking of buying a Scoopon for Carilley Estate please note. Hubby I went to Carilley with 2 other couples to this beautiful setting but that’s where the compliments end. We had 2 Scoopon vouchers one for 2 persons and one for...the other 4 as you could not buy a voucher for 6. We asked politely if we could sit on a table for 6 and we were told in a very rude manner that we cannot as it was in the “fine print”. We were made to feel like school kids being told off. It was intimidating. We were completely flabbergasted. Not wanting to make a fuss we sat down on 2 tables which incidentally were next to each other and I had a look at the voucher on my phone and couldn’t find any such rules so hubby queried this with the staff member and he produced a laminated sheet of paper from under the count. Again, not wanting to make a fuss he accepted this and sat down. So, I know what you are asking yourself now is perhaps the restaurant was fully booked. Well we were there from 6pm to 8pm (closing time) and only 3 tables were occupied. We sat there surrounded by empty tables of 6. The meal was very ordinary. The Beef Cheeks were not cooked well, usually they do not require cutting like a piece of steak and underneath was about a spoon full of potato. Our friend had the parmi, smallest one he has ever seen accompanied by a few chips. A couple of us had deserts the others went home hungry. A very unpleasant experience for all and we will definitely not be dining there again with or without a discount voucher.
