A modest but very traditional restaurant. they can find typical food for cheap trips. if they are close to the city and want to eat a quick lunch of Mexican, this is a good place to go.

The maul was not very good. it lacked taste. service was fast, but I probably wouldn't be back.

This restaurant is a couple of blocks southeast of the zocalo, close to Museo Amparo, so it is pretty central. The house specialty is chile en nogada, and it is excellent. It is not very heavy with beef and not too cloyingly sweet either; the...owner told me that it is his great grandmother's recipe exquisite mixture of pears, peaches, apples, pork and almonds. The sauce was particularly tasty and light because it had milk and ground walnuts rather than cream. The service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant has been around since 1963 and it seems to be a favourite of Poblanos as well.
