Park View At Ravinia - Highland Park

I was so disappointed by the quality of eating in the park view restaurant. Actually, the food I ordered was not worth the price I paid. the cocktails were good, but the eating portions, the sides and the main dishes themselves were so simple/basic that it was hard to believe that it prepared a real boil. I felt honest as if a teenager had cooked the food we had. the dessert we ordered was also terrible. the Gelati/Gelato-Trio was granular and we wondered if it was freeze-dried or just badly made. in any case, this restaurant cannot recommend. the people are better off to bring their own wein and cheese, to rent chairs, to eat on the rasen and then to the pavillon for the concert. you would spend much less money.

Parkview restaurant at Ravinia has made a quantum leap. We go to many concerts there and have always supported the pretty, spacious and elegant restaurant but have been sadly disappointed in the food and painfully slow service every time. TONIGHT we had an outstanding meal for the first time in years! Four excellent and large salads all fresh and very interesting. Mussels and shrimp in a beautiful red broth. Huge diver scallops presented charmingly. Pea shoot risotto with coconut and lovely flavors. Creative, colorful, delicious and filling. The dessert menu was fascinating but we didnt have any this time. The service was nearly perfect. Only the martinis were disappointing because they didnt have enough vodka. And of course it isnt cheap!

Stick with the burger here, the kitchen staff isn't up to speed on the more demanding dishes, staff shortages?? the sea bass was burnt, the pasta was overcooked... the manager made ammends, but would not reccomend this for more then drinks and maybe the cheese board, the drinks were good!

Convenient location for dinner at Ravinia with a nice view of the park. That’s about it. Limited menu. Sea bass was mediocre, drinks skimpy (the bill wasn’t). Since we were practically the only ones eating there, you’d think they would have had the time to get our cocktails served in 10 or 20 minutes, or at least heated the mashed potatoes.

They serve cold food. Stale buns. Water down drinks. Lousy service. Poor sounding music system throughout the park. I would recommend buying a CD and listening to it in your car while you go through a drive-through at McDonald’s.
