Anything said otherwise is libelous slander. It's not fast food, sometimes different items take different amounts of time to cook. It's real food that's cooked fresh to order. It's not that pre-packaged junk that's under a heat lamp. I highly suggest The Double E to EVERYONE who loves real food to give them a try. Bring a little patience and understanding that it's a small restaurant that's run by a small family who do their best every day to bring You the best experience. You won't regret it.Edit: The 1 star reviewer below mine is HIGHLY mistaken. Accidents happen and it doesn't always have to be about race. I know this family and know what kind of people they are and racism was NOT part of it. That reviewer seems to love to complain in their reviews, so it's hard to take them seriously. Being inconvenienced by an accident isn't enough to throw down the race card. It was an accident that could have happened to anyone at any time. What the person was is irrelevant. Using that frivolously takes away from the real problems out there that are far more serious than being inconvenienced by a delayed cheeseburger. It's not Wendy's.She has social anxiety which was probably the main reason for the situation, so we could say that the reviewer is ableist, too. Before we get too deep I want to clarify that I am LGBTQIA Cherokee. Ꮵ ᏣᎳᎩ. I have NEVER experienced a shred of racism or any form of discrimination from this family. Ever. My people were here first, so that reviewer can get off my lawn on that topic. Also, I find it incredibly convenient that their review popped up LITERALLY the day after The Double E won a national award for best burger in the region.. Maybe it's a little TOO convenient. Just saying..
Poor service. My wife ordered a burger and fries. The cashier took the order and was not friendly. She then took orders from other guests and gave them all the food first and half an hour later gave my wife her food. Reason...., my wife is Spanish but speaks english just fine.First time here and last. Don't visit if you are not white.Edit: appreciate the response but being verbally rude for no reason up front and throughout, and then you purposefully served other guests that came in after her first. Many of which had larger orders. My wife ordered 1 standard hamburger and fries for my 12 year old son who was with her and he observed it all. Most in this area are friendly, but racism exists. My wife is a great person and doesn’t deserve to be treated any differently than other locals, especially not because of race.
DOUBLE E is not only a place to get a great meal, it's like visiting family. Double E is a family run, small business that serves up large portions at a fair price. You may wait a bit longer than you would at a chain restaurant, but your food is fresh and hot. Kevin and Cari also serve their community in many ways. Make the drive to Highlandville and enjoy a delicious meal.
This is one of those unexpected gems. It is small but great home cooked food and terrific fried pies. It is a cool atmosphere as well. I highly recommend it! Parking: There is a small lot
Everything is good. I was told not to pass on the fried pies, and they are great!
