The second time was on a Thursday around 5pm, and although the staff were friendly, there was a negative atmosphere that I can only describe as "yocal". As we entered, we were verbally abused by one of the regular patrons, which may have affected my overall experience. Despite this, the chili that I had and the scampi that my wife ordered were good. However, we decided to leave as it seemed like the restaurant was more focused on catering to its regulars rather than welcoming other customers. It gave off the vibe of a place you would see in a movie where everyone stops and stares at you as you walk in. It's a shame because the bar staff seemed very nice and I heard that it's a family-run business.
Located on the outskirts of Uxbridge, this pub is still within easy walking distance of the town center. Situated directly across from a Premier Inn, it is perfect for enjoying a local pint and meal. The charming canal-side beer garden adds to the appeal, and the food has a delicious homemade quality at a reasonable price. The selection of real ales is impressive, with the Side Pocket for a Toad from Tring brewery standing out as particularly excellent. Overall, this pub is a fantastic choice and well worth the half-hour walk for the experience.
Great Sunday lunch. Very busy and bookings advised but they fit me in, on a table with a card showing the time it was booked (long time ahead so no hint of a rush. Beautifully cooked lamb and the usual trimmings, with a full pot of mint sauce and a full sized gravy boat. Next time, I’ll probably order the small version as I had no room for the tempting deserts. All that and a beautifully kept pint of London Pride.
Most of the food was good and the service and staff were excellent apart from the manager he was very rude and aggressive. When paying the bill 10% service charge is added to the bill there is no mention of this on the menu. When the manager told me the total after a disagreement over the service charge I gave him my blue light card so 15% should have been taken off the total bill. I paid my bill total of £93.00. When I got home I worked my bill out to be £83.60 for the food so if you add the service charge of 10% that is £8.36 so my bill should have been £91.96 less 15% so my total bill should have been £69.81 not the £93.00 that I was charged, as you can see I was not only overcharged on the food but my blue card discount was never deducted. So if you do go to this pub be prepared what what you will receive being overcharged, charged a 10% service charge which you are not told about, blue light card discount that you will not receive and a very rude and aggressive manager who is never wrong. I would have gone back the next day to get my money back but for the sake of £23.00 I will let the manager have this because I cannot be bothered with all of the managers aggression and I don’t need an argument, so on that principle I will never be returning and warning others to stay away.
Went today 06/08/23 for dinner with my Family. Service was faultless and the Food was absolutely delicions. Will definitely be returning very soon. Thoroughly recommend.
