Poke N Sides The Hilo Farmers Market

Amazing poke, very fresh. All of the side options were delicious as well, fries superb too! Afterwards we got shaved ice in the same building, wow. You can definitely tell the flavors are made from real ingredients, we'll come back again before we go home for sure. Highly recommend!!Food: 5/5

By far THE BEST poke place in the state of Hawaii. We've tried about a dozen different poke places on our trips to the islands but Poke'n'Sides is incomparable. Everything is fresh and it all looks so incredibly delicious we had no choice but to come here several times just to try everything. Our favorite side is the crabavo salad. Soooooo good! It's actually really cheap especially if you compare it to fast food places or restaurants. The staff was sweet and you can tell they love their job. It felt like home everytime we stopped by. I wish there was a place half as good as this here in Germany but it looks like we will have to make another trip halfway around the world for Poke from Poke'n'Sides.Dietary restrictions: You find gluten-free options and also vegetarian/vegan dishes.

After looking at places I wanted to try during our stay in Hilo, I was most excited about eating here and going to the Farmer's Market. Imagine my disappointment when it was pouring rain the day we went to the Farmer's Market, and with the large crowd, there was nowhere covered to eat. If I'd been by myself, I would have just ordered to go, but the rest of my party wanted to sit down somewhere to eat. So we went somewhere else. On our last day in Hilo, I finally made it to Poke N Sides and it was delicious. I had to wait in a line, but it went quickly. There is both a line for burgers and a line for poke. I chose poke. There is a cooler display with all the food and when you get to the counter you choose what kind of bowl you want. I did the 2 choice bowl for $24. I got to choose 2 different types of poke and 2 sides. First time ever trying purple potato salad and I'm in love! I don't remember what else I got, but it was delicious. After ordering and paying for it, I got a buzzer that let me know when my food was ready. The wait was not too long.

Stayed in hilo for four days, had fresh poke for four days. We enjoyed the yammylicious poke bowls here. UALA highly recommended!

It was one of very few places open on thanksgiving so it did a very brisk tourist business for lunch. I was torn between the Jakob special and a burger. I had a feeling the burger would be a standard thin, patty, but I did it anyway, because I figured I can get Jakob at a Korean restaurant that makes it all the time, not a place just occasionally serving it. It wasn’t as anemic a patty as I expected, but it was way too well done. There was a little blue cheese or Gorgonzola on top. The menu doesn’t say there’s mayo, but of course there is—my mistake. The fries are thin and very crispy, overall not bad.I don’t know the poke price, but the other prices were pretty reasonable for a tourist spot. The meal hit the spot, but I wouldn’t bother coming back unless it was the only place open again.
