Hiroshima 1923 High Ball

I had a fantastic time at Hiroshima 1923 High Ball Bar. The food was delicious, the drinks were interesting and tasty, and the service was outstanding. The atmosphere was perfect and overall, everything about this place was excellent.

This izakaya restaurant has a "highball" theme and is part of a chain associated with Suntory/Yamazaki. While whisky purists may not be fully satisfied, some of the highballs they serve are quite tasty. If customers still prefer a straight whisky, they offer Yamazaki 12 for 1400jpy, which is not bad. Prices are reasonable and there is a cover fee of 500jpy per person (clearly stated in the menu). They also provide complimentary nuts, crackers, and chocolate.

We were there at the time of a national holiday, so maybe that's why they did not have enough staff, but the waiting time was ridiculous. Therer were only one bartender and one waitress for a full bar. We almost walked out because we did not even get to order for about 25 minutes after being seated. The drinks were so so, nothing to write home about. Would not recommend this bar based on this experience, but I guess it might be better other nights.

Nice staff and atmosphere. However, I noticed that the prices for drinks on the English menu were 10 15% higher than the traditional menu. I was also chanrged an additional cover charge, which was not explained when entering the bar...

We decided to have a few drinks towards the end of the night and had a great time at the restaurant.
