The Calamari himself was crispy with a slight dough coating, but tenderly and not the smallest bit of crushers. The garden salad had more components than a pocket salad with a variety of vegetables and textures. The fries were well seasoned and fleshy. The portions were huge. I saw some of the plates stacked with food, and our plate was pretty filled. I would try this place again to eat the food.
It was a cold winter day when 3 friends and I ate here, at what used to be The Aberfeldy Hotel. Had a bit of a set back a few weeks ago as a fire gutted the kitchen setting back the new owners for a while. But up and running now and we had an enjoyable lunch. The back of the menu lists "small servings" but not all that small. I had the fish and chips, and it came with salad, for $12.50 try and beat that anywhere for a really good, tasty meal.Wine list not large, but big enough for us to choose a couple of Tasmanian wines.Altogether an enjoyable meal
We visited the soho for a quick lunch as it recently reopened after a kitchen fire. They advert on tv had the noodle salad which my partner was keen to have. Unfortunately that is not on the menu. The advertised $10 specials are only 3 choices. We had squid, chips & salad. This was nice. Squid was very pale looking but tasted nice. Salad was a bit small. My partner had pulled pork roll which was barely warm. He was dissappointed with his meal. All in all it was ok for cheap food.Service was Excellent our waiter was very friendly and helpful.
I'm organising an end of year function for our department and have contacted several Hobart establishments. Several people mentioned Hotel Soho so I attempted contact. I contacted the hotel by phone to find out who I need to speak with and was advised I had just missed the function organiser and was given an email address. I sent details immediately, requesting a response asap as the venue needed to be booked very soon. I left it 2 days and when I hadn't received a call or email, I called back. I was told I had just missed the function organiser and was told to send an email. I called the following day and was again told I had just missed the function organiser. I explained I had sent the email and had not received any contact. I stressed that I needed to speak with someone. The male advised he would leave a message where this 'mystery' person could see it. Another day has gone by and STILL no contact. I have just got off the phone with a male who advised AGAIN that I had missed the function organiser. I explained that despite me calling I had no returned call or email and suggested they obviously don't need the business. He advised me they have been very busy. I suggested that given I was organising the end of year function for 60 - 80 people with the view to ongoing monthly events, their lack of customer service in even just responding with a brief email apologising for the delay was simply unacceptable and I would not be chasing them again. Given the amount this establishment advertises on local media re: functions/function room hire, one would think they would know what they are doing & how to treat customers. I get that they have just reopened in recent weeks after a fire......however, business is business! If you are too busy for new business then be upfront and say it. Very bad experience overall! They will not be getting our future business personally or professionally!
Had dinner at SoHo last week with a group of friends. We had booked a table and it was lucky - the place was packed as they held another of their 'Round The Clock' Parmy Nights ($5 at 5 pm, $6 at 6pm etc). Despite that, we were well looked after. I needed help to work out where our table was and I was assisted immediately by a brand new team member. We asked for an extra place to be set at our table and it was done without having to ask twice. Our food arrived promptly and it was good (our group ordered a mix of parmy's and other menu items). Surprisingly the best looking meal of the night was the humble roast! So - well done SoHo. You were busy and we were looked after. Prices are very reasonable and for a casual meal in a nice hotel, it was good value. We'll be back. :)
