The METZ on the Bay - Hobart

Dropped in for a lunch on Monday and the place was empty but there wasn't much around for a relaxing sit down lunch.

They got beer. Beer make me happy. They pour beer fast and are super friendly. Good for a Monday when everything else is shut

We managed to get a table at the Metz on a Friday night at late notice! We were seated fast, comfortable chairs and our waitress throughout the whole night

Service was exceptional. All staff were very attentive, however Nina was the star, and excelled herself when she found out that the one year old with us was also named Nina. Food was great too. Only let down was that it's a bit drafty inside.

It is many years since I have been to the Metz and boy was I disappointed. The surroundings are much improved, the menu fair but the service we received as very average. My friend has some issues with diet which were very well covered by the menu with her choice of squid, it would be nice to have the choice of chips or salad not having to pay $6 if salad wanted. I had the Caesar Salad which consisted of a very large amount of lettuce, mostly ends of the leaf, a very bland dressing. The egg was perfectly cooked which made up for the other failings. The service was average, well the male who was supposed to be serving us, delivered very average service, however, the female staff member was excellent and appeared to be "picking up the pieces" of the males average service throughout the restaurant.
