Matt Meera - Hoboken

This was my first time at his restaurant. I was drawn there due to the uniqueness of their menu when I looked online. I have been to many great Indian restaurants, but none that feature many of the unique and creative dishes here. The food was amazing! We shared appetizers and then each got our own entree. The service was also excellent. Every staff person was kind, friendly, and humble. This is the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to! I highly recommend it :

Very good food. Interesting concepts regarding Indian fusion. The lamb kebabs w cheese were delicious, but got a little heavy at the end. The nachos were delicious. Service was good and overall a delicious and fun experience.

Dinner on Friday night at 6:30 pm started well: attentive and prompt service, fast and tasty appetizers. Then, as the restaurant filled up, it went downhill. Main courses were good except for the Tandoori Lamb that was so salty that one guest returned it and got a replacement dish. Oddly, they were out of lamb shank at 6:45 pm when we first ordered. Rosemary naan was delicious. By 8:00 pm it was a mob scene and the service fell apart. We waited 30 minutes for an order of bread pudding (with a candle--it was a birthday--and when we went up to the desk to cancel the order, they apologized and brought it out. We knew that paying the bill would take forever, so again we went up to the desk to pay. I 'd go back to Matt and Meara because the food is interesting and mostly good but beware of the service on a Friday night.

My husband, son and I absolutely love this place. We tend to go early, when it is very quiet, and we enjoy both the excellent and friendly service as well as the wonderful food which I would call nouveau Indian Asian many favorites are re imagined in ways that are more interesting, healthier, or both. We've tried almost everything, and have yet to be disappointed. When we are leaving around 8pm, the place is full and the ambience is warmer. It's BYO.

Average, over-priced food. Chairs were uncomfortable. We will not return.
