Pakkhús - Hofn

Best meal in Iceland so far and we are already 2/3 in our trip to the island! I can't stress enough how wonderful everything was here. Absolutely incredible! We had a 3-course menu. Our starter was the langoustine soup. Our meals were the horse steak and the lamb fillet. Both were delicious! My husband and I were skeptical to try the horse steak, but I highly recommend it. That was delicious and super delicate. For dessert we have the Icelandic dessert. Everything was phenomenal! This is so definitely a splurge at the expensive end, but it is completely worth it. Very recommended!

Pakkhús appears from the beginning to the end. We were looking for a drink, but the ambience and the menu have brought us into an incredible meal and experience. We started with the Brie and Pecan starter (forget photo!, lamb and lobster as a net, and the phenomenal volcanic desert. Everything was mouthwater. The atmosphere is great. The staff is fantastic. This restaurant really made our stay in Höfn. Thanks for the wonderful meal! I don't have enough adjectives to describe it.

I never had better food in my life. No competition. This Lobster Cream dish gave me a kind of high that I never ate anything. The price was absolutely worth 200%. The staff also gave us free soup on the house. What an absolutely surreal experience to eat here.

My husband and I happened upon this restaurant and it was a truly special treat! The building is an old warehouse and the decor is great. The food and service were both wonderful. Our server was attentive to my Gluten Free requests and in fact many items on the menu are GF or can be prepared GF. We shared a soup and grilled shrimp appetizer then the grilled lamb dinner and everything was delicious and plenty of food for 2 people. Don’t miss this restaurant if your’e in Hofn!

On the advice of a local, she told us about this place for dinner. What a beautiful building right next to the harbor. We both had the cod dinner which had four pieces of cod with a mozzarella cheese sauce. Oh, it was sooo good!! Quite reasonable as well. Excellent wait staff and so friendly. The home made bread was delicious and excellent butter from Iceland!! Highly recommend this place, but get there about 5 p.m. when they open as it gets very busy!!
