I was recommended to stop by Starvin Marvin's and had heard it was pretty good pizza for the area. Did come to find they had changed ownership, supposedly within the family and renaming to 3 J's. Not sure why you would change from a well established name if kept within the family... but ok. Anyways pizza wasn't mind blowing but certainly better than the main stream locations such as Pizza Hut and so forth. We also came to find they will be revamping the menu or had already done so and will only be continuing to serve the old SM menu for a short while longer. Pizza was well topped with toppings, however they forgot our raw tomatoes on top. The crust is very large and dough like, though quite good as it's not very dense as you would think at first look. A stuffed crust option would go great with such a crust or a variety of crust flavor toppings. Overall not the greatest pizza I've ever had but I certainly think it's a solid option to feed a family or group of friends. We had ordered via pickup over the phone and the service was friendly during our experience.
Starvin Marvins is now run by a relative. I believe it's now called the three J's. We ordered Pizza and were told it would be ready in 40 minutes. We said perfect as we were walking the beach and we would be in to eat soon. When we arrived a different staff member advised us the new Owner did not allow people to call ahead and then come to eat as it upsets the patrons that are waiting for their order. It was 8:35 and only one table was filled in the restaurant. We explained that we had advised the person that took Our order we would be eating in. She would not budge and was actually rude about it. We have been ordering pizza and eating in for over 10 years. It was always fun and decent pizza. But we took our order and arrived home 25 minutes later. The pizza was over cooked and of course cold. The new owner has changed all of the recipes and even the pizza dough is different. Sadly a decent place has really changed and the food is not better. Between the not very good pizza and the rude staff the three J's has lost our business. There is much better pizza elsewhere in Homer. And they are happy to serve you!!
A Credit card machine or ATM would be lovely . Best peanut butter brownies EVER!!!!
Good family environment but the pizza crust is usually a little doughy
