The rice options available are white, brown, sushi, or black rice. The portion size is a bit small, including the cuts of salmon. The bowl's diameter is approximately 6 inches. There is a generous amount of rice compared to the fish, but overall the salmon is fresh and flavorful, especially when paired with the sushi rice.
This restaurant is a wonderful spot for lunch in the business district of the city. While they do have a few tables for dining in, the main focus is their take-out counter. They offer a lovely variety of sushi bentos, poke dishes, and Japanese donburi meals. Most items also come with a side of miso soup.
LOCATION: Off of Queen Street (Mauka side) between Bishop St and Alakea St. PARKING: None. This place is best accessed on foot. Street parking is available on Bishop Street and most buildings offer paid parking. It's downtown, so you know how parking can be. SERVICE: The Korean woman who works here is very kind. I usually prefer to eat my order on-site. They have 2 tables available inside, one for a single person and one for two people. It's a small takeout counter type of place. FOOD: The quality of their fish is quite good. I'm not a huge fan of their salmon, but the rest of their food is fresh, especially for a takeout sushi spot. They also offer keto options. Overall, it's a great spot to satisfy your sushi cravings.
Walking into this mom-and-pop poke shop felt like doing the hokey pokey - fun and enjoyable! Upon arriving in Oahu, my friends and I were craving some delicious poke to replace the lackluster plane food we had. We decided to try out this place based on the rave reviews it received, and we were not disappointed. The fact that we saw more locals than tourists dining there was a good sign. Located in a business district, the only parking available was in nearby garages, which were a bit pricey. The shop itself was small, but had a good variety of poke options. I opted for the natto bowl since the vegetarian choices were limited. The bowls were served promptly and we chose to dine in, although seating was limited. My friends loved their ahi poke bowls, commenting on the freshness and flavor of the fish. The natto was good, but I found it a bit overwhelming as a main dish. The staff, particularly the friendly ahjummas, were welcoming and attentive. Despite our offers to clean up after ourselves, they insisted on clearing our trays and even combined tables for our large group. We left the shop feeling satisfied and full. One of my friends couldn't stop talking about how much she loved the place, possibly doing the hokey pokey in excitement. Overall, I highly recommend giving this spot a try!
I REALLY love Ahi and was craving some fresh fish so I decided to come here as it's been a while. I've been here a few times previously as it's a close walk in proximity to my job. I was having a hard time deciding between getting a bento or a bowl, but I ended up choosing the $14 spicy ahi ikura bowl. The really liked their spicy ahi and the ikura tasted fresh. The bowl also came with some miso soup to cleanse your palette after your meal. The portion was big for me so I had a little left over for a late snack before leaving the office. The prices are very reasonable for downtown. The prices listed are the prices you pay out the door.
