With two hungry toddlers and myself being a bit grumpy I stumbled in and looked around to a quiet but friendly staff. I asked if it was too late to order and because it was 15 mins until closing time, they kindly asked if we could do togo. I happily obliged. The food was amazing and the staff extremely friendly and accommodating. Food was tasty and packed well. We're definately coming back the next time were in Hawaii!
Went to Yajima-ya yesterday around 11:30 for lunch. As soon as we entered, we were politely met at the door for a temperature and Covid vax check, then directed to our table. As soon as we were seated, our waitress brought us the menus (both the lunch and dinner). There were a lot of choices but we decided on the Miso Butterfish and Assorted Tempura Teishoku. After a 5 minute wait, our food was served to us. Everything looked so good that I totally forgot to take pics of our plates for this review, and just dove right in and devoured everything. The butterfish was so tasty with a slight crispiness that the flavor popped in your mouth as you bit into it. The assorted tempura was lightly battered and fried to perfection...no oily aftertaste. And talk about the assortment, besides the shrimps, there were onion, bell peppers, carrots, and sweet potato tempura. I take pride in being a very big eater but the serving size was so generous that I couldn't finish the entire meal. I will definitely return here for another meal in the near future and encourage you to try this place for your next outing. You won't be disappointed.
I love that this business is trying to do what it can to help its community during the pandemic by lowering the prices of select plate lunches! Bonus star just for being a good neighbor and having some heart. I ordered their mushroom chicken, which I'd heard is one of their signature dishes and one of their $9 deals. It was good, but not as mushroom-forward as I'd expected. The sauce was nice and rich, yet not too salty. The chicken was nicely cooked, albeit a little bland. Maybe it just seemed like that because it was barely lukewarm by the time I got to eat it once I got home. That's not their fault, but I note it for those doing takeout. I've been to this restaurant in person in the past and really liked the food, so I was willing to try it for take-out too. Do yourself a favor and go in person. It'll be a way better experience.
Finally made the time to visit this restaurant and I'm very pleased I did!The atmosphere was perfectly laid back, clean, pleasent staff/waitress and the food was perfectly satisfying! We will be back thats for sure!
Came here by foot on a Monday around 12pm. There were 5 of us we were seated right away. The drink they gave us wasn't water. I think it was some kind of tea. It was very refreshing though. The menus were huge lol! I ordered the rib eye steak with garlic. It was super tender juicy! It was kind of pricey for an ok portion but the quality was great. There was only 1 waitress so we were waiting a while for our check but she did her best and was very friendly. Their sashimi looked good, so I might be getting that on my next trip
