I brought my mom to Roots Cafe Robie's General Store yesterday for breakfast and it was fantastic as I expected. I drove every day through this little lunch in the historic part of Hooksett NH and went back and forth to my job in Concord. I had the chance to stop there after I (for good) my job on Wednesday the 31st. Then confiscated the moment to go back to breakfast because I was completely taken from the history of the small train stop. The food corresponded to my expectations as I had imagined.
I buy more than twice a week here. I love the food and the people who work there. A great local feeling.
I haven't visited this place for years! Still has memories and antiques, but, a large café / restaurant, roots, inside, with more activity. I had the eggs combo with one side cinnamon strawberry French toast with brioche bread. I got blueberries jam for my sourdough toast. I got two kinds of hot sauce for my eggs. Coffee is serving itself, but they have a selection of s. I talked to the owner's mother about the history of the building. Friendly staff. Great servings of food. Free coffee refills. Parking above the street. Go early. You can go over the bridge for a walk to burn a few calories facemask needed, but you can take it on your place. I recommend a visit. Even if you need to send a letter or an invoice, there is an MailBOX on the side of the front door. Be careful, the front door is asleep. Items for sale inside. Planter from old motorcycle license plates and recent canvas prints available for wall suspensions.
The new management (Roots Cafe) really knows what they do. No more endless waiting for food as before. Delicious breakfast and lunch in a unique, truly New England location. The walls are decorated with antiques and old presidential monuments. It's like eating in a museum.
