The thing I like about Waffle House is it 's reliable. It 's consistent. No matter which one I go to I 'm pretty sure to see a cop sitting at the counter jawing with the waitress. If it 's late at night I 'm almost guaranteed to see a couple whisper fighting at one booth and another couple in another booth that I want to tell to get a room. And always at the counter are the regulars.<br/ <br/ 'My ' Waffle House is the one on Lorna Road at Montgomery Hwy. I don 't understand why the servers need to write down everyone 's order, but when they shout it at the short order cook, he NEVER needs to write anything down. It never makes sense to me. I get lost after 'Pull 2 bacon! ' but no matter how complicated the order is the cook never gets it wrong. It 's like watching a conductor at the symphony. he gets all of our orders right, and all of them ready at the same time. And the whole time he 's keeping up a steady stream of conversation with the servers, the person he 's training, the cop, and the regulars at the counter. The food at Waffle House is the second reason people go there.<br/ <br/ My cheese eggs, toast, sausage and hash browns (scattered, smothered and covered) weren 't fine dining but they were good eats served with a smile, which is more than you can say for a lot of places.
I spent a week in this city, this is one of the better waffle houses I've been too. The chefs take pride in their food and the rest of the staff I felt with was excellent servers. Didn't care to much for the mid morning staff, But the over night crew and night shift crews were the best.
The staff was friendly but the cook just couldn't get my order correct. I ordered a medium well t bone and got a well well. Never received my grits and got my coffee on the way out of the door. My son had issues with his order also. Otherwise no problems. The place was also clean. I did not see the rating.
The staff here are always courteous, warm, attentive, and personable. They remember you if you make a return visit, and ask about you and your family... and that's the kind of small town, intimate atmosphere I knew in my childhood and find so rarely today. The food is served hot and quickly, and matches the menu descriptions, so no disappointments. I give it 5 stars, refer my friends, and am a regular at this great little hidden gem.
Food was great! Service was good until the end. Didn't come back for refills, ran out of coffee. We were the only table. (4) The BIGGEST draw back was the noise! It was so loud. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have to buy new plates, often. Music playing, the 7 people working talking over everything. If you have a person in your family that has sensitive hearing, not a place to go.
