We didn't visit the main house but I know it is wonderful from previous visits. There are fabulous dog friendly walks of various lengths around the lovely grounds and there is a dog friendly cafe. Like all National Trust properties there is ample wheelchair friendly parking and accessible toilets. It's worth checking daily local changes to the opening of various elements of the property due to Covid 19; most were open the day we visited. There is a wonderful adventure playground for children adjacent to the car park. It's a super day out.
We went to ickworths light nights, this is where they have very bright lights shining up into the trees to create a magical effect. It looks stunning! You follow the rope lights around through the trees and eventually end up in the stumpery, this looks stunning all lit up !! There's a part with a smoke machine and lazer lights, very effective ! my favourite part Towards the end of the trail you end up in the cafe and shop, chance to spend some cash haha !. I would happily go again next year but not rush around so much, we only took 1 hour to see everything, your able to walk around again for free if you feel like it.
Adventure park for the kids was good, a nice walk around and the house was just enough for younger researchers not to get too dispondant. Overall a nice day out to see a gardens, a huge house and estate. I'd like to stay at the hotel too sometime.
There is much to explore at Ickworth from the majestic landscape to the historica Italian palace styles manor it offers an incredible day out. The staff are all friendly and there are a few quaint cafes dotted around the vast estate perfect to grab a coffee or bite to eat.
