Back Door Saloon - Houghton Lake

I don’t want to be charged extra for the ice in my Irish cream. There should be two separate prices.

It used to be a great place, but ever since the staff has been mostly young, under-20 bartenders and waitresses, it has become a disaster.

The food was delicious, but the burgers we received straight from the kitchen were cold. The waitress didn’t offer to replace them or do anything about it. I ordered the spinach artichoke dip with pita chips, and it was incredible! I also had the steak Mexican bowl; while the rice at the bottom was still cold, the flavors were fantastic, and the sauce was delicious! I would definitely come back again.

As for the food, it was perfectly cooked, hot, and absolutely delicious! The sliders were larger than usual, and they weren’t greasy or soggy. They featured a good-sized patty, fresh toppings, and the house-made yum-yum sauce was fantastic. In fact, everything was so good and served so quickly that I forgot to take any pictures! If we find ourselves in the area again, we would definitely return!

The views of Higgins Lake are fantastic! The beer selection is solid, and they offer a full bar along with a variety of food options, making it an ideal spot for a family lunch. Despite the busy atmosphere, we were able to secure a table in a reasonable timeframe. Everything we ordered was delicious, but the standout items were definitely the French fries and the Santa Fe egg rolls!
