All restaurants of killen have good food. my first time in this restaurant really enjoyed the chicken steak! the serenemais is the best!
The pork bell starter was delicious. Grilled chicken chopped salate had all our favorites, except we prefer romaine over mixed field green. portions are huge and we could have easily divided and the escape. the chairs are hard and not comfortable, but this could be by design. I'm sure they'd rather turn tables than sitting and chatting.
I would normally give Killen’s in the Heights a solid 4 stars, but tonight it deserved five. It was just me and my young daughter, but the server, Kylie, treated us as if we were Michelin food critics. Water glasses were never empty, used plates were quickly removed, timing of dishes was spot on. My daughter had the chicken tenders, her favorite dish and on the lunch menu but prepared for her anyway, and a side of mashed potatoes with gravy. I opted for the prime ribeye and was quickly reminded that Ronnie Killen is of the Killen’s Steakhouse. When Kylie asked how I wanted it prepared, I semi-jokingly asked “How good is the person on the grill?” to which she replied “Oh he’s good. He’s very good. And that’s a legit question.” How right she was. Medium-rare could not have been more perfect and the cut was seriously prime. It was every bit as good as a ribeye from Killen’s Steakhouse, Pappa’s, or Georgia James. We finished with the carrot cake and I had a cup of coffee. Best meal of the year so far.
Terrible service mediocre food the chicken pot pie was undercooked (raw veggies), but also molten lava on the inside? Food did not all come to the table at the same time. I had to go to the hostess stand to ask for her to find our waiter our drinks were not refilled until about an hour into the meal upon my request. So underwhelmed by this experience. We will not be back.
