Pike Inn Diner - Houston

I was apprehensive after reading a couple of bad reviews, snd boy was I pleasantly surprised The grilled biscuits are awesome...I will probably start doing that at home as well. The breakfast potatoes were wonderful! I don't usually eat those... but they were well grilled and awesome. The waiter was attentive but not intrusive. He checked the tables from afar quite a few times and only came when he saw we needed something. It would have been easy to wave him over if needed. I wish we lived closer!

If you like small town, old school diners, this is your place. We went there for breakfast and it was excellent. I took my elderly mother out to eat like I do every weekend and we decided to switch it up and do breakfast this time. I ordered 2 eggs, over easy with 2 pancakes, 2 pieces of bacon and wheat toast with coffee. The eggs were cooked perfect. White wasn't runny at all, but the yolk was. The bacon was delicious. The pancakes were some of the best I've ever had. Tasted like it was probably a homemade batter. They were cooked how I like them, crispy on the edges and fluffy soft in the middle. My mother got 2 eggs over hard, 4 pieces of bacon, hash browns and white toast. She had the same review as I. Excellent in every way. This is the type of place I miss from my youth. The home town diner done right in every way.

Surprised that the restaurant was cleaner than usual. Eggs and toast were fine(hard to mess up). Female waitress excellent. Biggest issue was some staff member was smoking in the closed street side of the restaurant which could be smelled in the entire restaurant.

They have a lot of choices. Food is ok. Nothing fancy just your basics. Always go for breakfast.

The food here is always so delicious, and they serve generous portions. The wait staff is very friendly and I love the cozy atmosphere. Can't wait till my next visit:
