I'll try them again for the chimichunga.
Update 2022: with new property, two dishes were added. and they are. excellent. make sure to order a bowl of garnel soup and the birria tacos. the chips are no longer burned. the two salsas are delicious. reis and drilling are good. see photos. the tables in the restaurant are admirable. I'm not sure how old they are, but they have a few running and look really retro. the waiter couldn't be nicer. the Spanish village is a Houston institution and is historically significant, one of the older Mexican restaurants that still exists here. the combo plate, which presented dinge like a taco, chile con queso, a chalupa and/or guacamole salat, was known as the ladies special or the summer special in many Mexican restaurants around houston. I would recommend you to dispense with the enchilada/tamal/rice/bean plate and with these summer items stacked high with crisp salate and diceed tomato. the selection is served as starter on the alfonso pico special: chile con queso, guacamole salad, beef taco, veracruzana and I would stop there and not go on with the hot plate of tamale/enchilada/rice/beans. that would be my recommendation for her first visit. and. my rating of four stars is based only on the items in a summer special type meal.
Everything had great taste! the beans were the best. the drinks were fired. so good. the queensadilla was naughty and filled with fajita meat. the fajita plate was great. we will definitely come back.
Overlooking SPANISH/LITTLEVILLAGE before new ownership the vegan menu I love this place. the atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff including the owners are so friendly and personal. the personal remembered me after my visit in the first, although I got between my first and second visit a complete hair do change. the vegan menu here is amazing! I love breakfast tacos and the price for quality and quantity is excellent. every time I get the munchies late in the night, I sneak her chorizo, just a kitoffel tacos!? I want to appeal to one of the only bad reviews here by a woman named joy. she is known in the vegan community to be a terrible nag. it is a disappointment that a school teacher in pasadena would be such a rough, dissuasive and legitimate person to our local vegan company, especially with a as pleasant as Spanish village!
I have never tried all the years living in 3rd Ward. I heard it was under new ownership. That day 12-21-21 I was in a car accident afterwards hungry and frustrated about the incident. I decided get something to eat. I went in talked to ladies that severed me. I told them what happened. They gave me a margarita ? to calm my nerves. It was probably the best margarita Ive have ever had. The ladies was extremely nice and friendly. We discussed what happen to them after covid. I took my food home. My family has ordered there almost six times since then. We love Spanish Village. My daughter really does. She loves Mexican food. Please try you wont be disappointed. The food is fresh, prices are reasonable, and staff is great. The new manger takes good care of the restaurant. Black owned establishment
