Each dish, things that cost $12 at most other places, will cost around $20 here. I do not think the food is worth it. Check out the other pictures and mine and determine if the food is actually that good/high quality or it's some sort of coping. I argue it's the latter. They also charge a $2 credit card fee. If other places charge a fee, it's typically only a few percentages, not a full ~10% like this. Service was alright, somewhat rushed for how empty it was. The atmosphere is very nice. Now, I think the problem stems from the short opening hours. It makes sense that they upcharge to make up for the hours that they could be open. I won't make a comment here on how long they should be open because that's up to them, but you might be wondering what then is the issue with the high prices? Well, the place is very empty whenever I'm here. Every other table is empty. I think this place would do better with more reasonable prices and specials rather than just upcharging the few that do drop by.
I went to a private party at Chatter Box Café in early June 2024. It was a great location for a party. There are a number of dining rooms, each with a different theme. The food was delicious. We had a buffet set up. I chose a chicken salad on a croissant, recommended by my table mates who have eaten there before. It was very good, with lots of chicken meat. I had some of the salad which was very fresh with a delightful dressing that sparked it up. There was a tray of sausage and meatballs in a marinara sauce that was really good. I wanted to eat a whole plate of that. There was a fruit salad that looked good, so I got a bowl of that. It was the freshest fruit I've had this summer. The cantaloupe was especially sweet and juicy. For dessert, we had a choice of 2 kinds of cake. I had the chocolate peanut butter and it was a perfect ending to my meal homemade on the premises. The owners made us feel welcomed and like part of the family. I would love to go back and eat there again.
This is a unique small cafe in a home on Main St. in Hummelstown, PA. It has very restricted hours 11:00 AM to 2 PM on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. It has a limited menu. Their specialty is quiche, they often have two different types each day as well as homemade soups. The menu includes different types of sandwiches and a half sandwich combo option with soup, salad or coleslaw is possible. In good weather they have a covered patio behind the house. Call ahead and state your name and number of people. This little cafe is rich in history; the black and white photos of the 1950 vintage automobiles with Roxy's family and a neat and homey touch.
My wife and I ordered a chicken salad sandwich to share. The cost of the sandwich was $17.50. The waitress told us there would be a $5 charge for sharing a plate. So suddenly our chicken salad sandwich with a small bag of Utz potato chips cost $22.50 plus $1.35 tax plus 20% tip ended up costing $27.62!
One of our very favorite local gems to dine at ! Although we’ve been so many times now I have only ever ordered one thing bc it never disappoints ! BLT with the coconut mayonnaise.
