It was fantastic here though; the pork was served warm, and the bun was cozy as well, nicely wrapped in foil to maintain its warmth. I also know the owner, and he came over to sit with me for a bit so we could catch up.
I had a pleasant experience at the restaurant. The staff was very friendly, the food was tasty, and the portion sizes were generous. I wish there were more locations, but I'll make it a point to visit again the next time I'm in the area.
We ordered a small hamburger, fries, and a drink for my daughter, while I opted for a buffalo chicken Philly made just the way I like it—with extra onions, pickles, cheese, and jalapeños—along with a baked potato and a drink. All of this came to under $14. The price was great, but the food quality really made the difference. My daughter said her burger was awesome, and I found my sub to be delicious. The baked potato was also cooked to perfection. I noticed some complaints about the prices, with some saying they could have gotten a better deal at Wendy's. However, this restaurant is locally owned, not part of a huge franchise (in fact, a quick Google search shows it's one of only three locations left in the country). They can't buy ingredients in bulk like a massive corporation can, so it’s understandable that their prices might be higher. I like Wendy's too, but considering my daughter's meal cost just $4.53 with tax, it’s a fair price compared to what you'd get at Wendy's for a kids' burger, which I think is better here. I don't know where those complainers eat, but if they think this place is expensive, I assume they must eat at Speedway too much. Overall, the staff were friendly, the food was fresh and cooked right in front of us, and everything was tasty. Plus, it was affordable. Good job! As a side note, my daughter went back for ice cream, which was $1.99 for a kids' cup—a nice portion. I wasn't particularly impressed with the chocolate ice cream when I tasted it, but she loved it, and again, $2 is reasonable. Parents need to be mindful of their budgets as well. If someone can't afford this, maybe they shouldn't have kids or eat out often? Before we left for the park, my daughter asked for a soda refill, and she told the lady that she loves their burgers. The staff member replied, "Thank you! We get fresh hamburger delivered every day now."
