Dixie House Cafe - Hurst

This visit to the restaurant was better than our last one when they first opened. The sign was still up, so I was a bit wary of receiving the same service as before. However, this time the waitress was wonderful. She was a little blonde and seemed new, but she did a great job. The food was also better this time around. Perhaps they have a new cook? Did they replace the one on lknap?

Wow, what a great breakfast! Dixie also offers lunch and dinner. This was my first visit and I have found my new favorite breakfast spot. The portions are perfectly sized for the price, although it is a little expensive. I tried the chicken with eggs, hash browns, and biscuits. Everything tasted fresh and homemade - if it wasn't, I couldn't tell. I also tried the bacon and cheese omelet and it was delicious. And of course, I couldn't leave Dixie House without trying one of their desserts. The giant cinnamon roll was perfection - hot, fresh, soft, with sweet icing and glaze. Highly recommend this place.

We absolutely enjoyed our dining experience at Dixie House. There was a wide variety of menu options to choose from. My wife tried the chicken-fried steak, while I had the meatloaf, and both dishes were excellent. We were too full to try their dessert, the gloomy, but we will definitely be saving room for it next time. I highly recommend it.

I liked my chicken fried chicken plate. My side of fried okra and pinto beans were good as well. Cost was $12 bucks, a reasonable cost. The service was also good. However, when I went to pay up front it turns out there is a 4% surcharge on credit card purchases. So I give it a 5 on food and a one star on customer satisfaction for an average of 3 stars. I won’t go back till they change their up-charge on credit cards. Very irritating.
