Here 2-3 times hope that it would change my mind about the restaurant. I like eating xin jiang, but eating here tastes like you could make it home if you spent some time perfecting it. service and atmosphere is quite average. I thought you were really good, but I was kind of disappointed.
I have a confession, I am a type that likes my flesh dry rubbed, nudge chew, brot dense and lamb. this place is a primitive, looking compound with food from the rustic northwestern part china, but it zigzags all my boxes in a non-sensical wise
We ordered lamb with shallots it was taken to another table next to us by accident. The customer of that table noticed the mistake and informed the waitress after about 10 minutes and their kid had tucked into it! The waitress then brought it over to our table and said, 'don 't worry they didn 't eat it. ' We declined it and they said they would cook us another and I said no thank you because I could foresee them sticking the same lamb plate in a wok and reheating it. The manager came out with the same plate of lamb trying to assure us it was not touched and we should eat it! I declined and said we don 't need the lamb anymore as we had finished our other dishes anyway. The manager grumpily accepted this and walked off. NEVER AGAIN!
Saturday night date night and time to try a new restaurant. We'd passed by this place many times but always decided on somewhere else now it was time to give it a try. And we are so glad we did! We ordered Deep Fried Pork with Pepper and Chilli (chilli optional) a lovely, tasty, crispy batter which was nice and thin. The pork was succulent and delicious. Next we tried Kelp Salad WOW what a sensational dish. Absolutely loved this and could eat it all day. The kelp was al dente and mixed with the cabbage and wonderful dressing it was so moreish. Then we had BBQ Lamb Skewers with chilli (again optional chilli) flavoured with Chinese five spice and cumin, the lamb was well cooked and very good. Finally we tried the Steamed Pork Dumplings these were nice and with some black vinegar, were lovely. The service is fast and very efficient. Our waitress was a lovely woman who was an absolute pleasure very attentive and helpful. We had a great night and would definitely return especially for that Kelp Salad! Looking forward to trying their other menu items. Our bill for two people came to $83 which did include 5 Tsing Tao beers. Perfect accompaniment to such fantastic Chinese fare. Highly recommended.
