L'escale Du Sud - Hyères

We have had a dinner for 10 people at the place, service was extremely slow (1:45 min waiting), and when the food had arrived it was really horrible. The only cook was aggrssive and did not want to listen to our critics, she was offending us and screaming to us without any reason on our side. octopus was old and tough like stone mussels were old and had a bad smell, and 70 80% of the shells were empty sauce ayoli was so salty you can 't eat it in my dish the fish was semi raw, impossible to eat we had to repeat 3 4 times to the (only) waiter that we want something... she always forget. She was very young, highly unskilled and incompetent, slow and totally lost how to handle a problem. at the time of our stay 2 other tables left after scandals .. for slow service and bad food I can continue, but you get the picture. at the end their card payment terminal did not work, so we had to stay 1 hour to wait for them to fix it. Despite our promise to pass by the other morning and pay, they did not want to let us go, and for some strange reason they have insisted that we pay the bill in several small payments of max 99 EUR each... and we never understood why they wanted to split the payments like that. What was very disappointing to us that this restaurant had Trip advisor excellence 2018 advertising sticker on their door... Trip advisor, pls be careful to whom you give this award, this place was really the worst we have seen in Hyeres. Avsolutely not recommended, don 't go there unless you want to laugh at the ridiculously low level of quality of both service and kitchen.

Squids swimming in decongelation water, mussels in curry sauce with agglomerated curry powder lumps in the sauce, small fishes friture undercooked : a dangerous place for food. And not cheap.

Super welcome, mother and daughter in charge, nice simple food, easy on price. Will come back for sure.

We were walking around looking for a good mussel dish, and we passed by the Escale du Sud. As usual we look at the reviews on Google. Given the rather negative reviews we were perplexed. We said to ourselves: people are bitter, the restaurant seems rather nice nothing tried, nothing gained . The intuition was good, the staff were very helpful and very pleasant. We were shocked at the speed, in actually 5 minutes we were served even though the restaurant was full. The mussels and fries were delicious and generous portions! Don 't take the negative comments into account, this restaurant is just GREAT if you 're looking for a good mussel ;
