Indore's best shinkji can be found at Sarafa in Indore. The taste, sweetness, and overall flavor are exceptional. Shinkji is available from around 3 or 4 o'clock at Sarafa.
The famous Sarv Falahari Mishthan Bhandar in Indore is well-known among the locals for its calorie-rich Shikanji. After enjoying the unique Malwa Delicacy Dal Bafla Thali at Hotel Rajhans, we made our way to this confectionery shop located opposite the hotel. The spicy dal bafla thali left our mouths on fire, so we decided to try the sweet and cooling Shikanji priced at Rs 55 per glass. However, the Shikanji here is not the traditional lemon summer cooler from North India made with sugar, cumin, and lemons. Instead, it is a thick drink made with sweetened and thickened milk, almost resembling a dense mix of condensed milk, thick curd, and flavors like cardamom and saffron. It bears resemblance to the popular Gujarati dessert Shrikhand. We only ordered one glass to try a few sips. We also sampled the Kaju Katli, which we found to be average in taste. The menu also includes other items like Malai burfi, kesar burfi, milk cake, kaju parwal, aam malai, ras malai, rasgulla, cham cham, ras kadamb, kesar bhog, barfi kheer, and malai sandwich. The shop is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and closes at 2 p.m. on holidays.
