Our Christmas eve dinner ended in disaster. We stayed at the lovely Trend hotel over Christmas and had made a reservation for dinner on the 24th a few weeks in advance. We arrived on time (19:30 , ordered wine and skipped starters so we could have mains and deserts (they sounded good . There was a big tour group in the fenced off section playing loud Christmas music I thought it added atmosphere for a fun night but it was weird. The waiter was polite but not welcoming. He was single handed and busy but still had time to chat periodically with friends at the bar. The bread was nice, we waited a little (not too long and the food was fine. A couple, also guests, were turned away being told the restaurant was full (7/30 tables were fenced off, the group of 15ish was in other area despite there being 3 reserved tables (one for 6pm who hadn 't shown up. Deserts were flying out and looked as good as they sounded. The waiter cleared our plates and carried on with other jobs and around this time a couple with a small child tuned up for one of the reserved tables, we thought it weird they weren 't ordering food and they eventually went out to the bar. He eventually returned to us at 20:40 to offer 'coffee ' and when we said 'no thanks but we 'd like desert ' we were told that the kitchen was closed. He defended it by saying he was 'just the waiter ' and reminded us it was Christmas and people had to go home then left us in disappointed shock. On one hand I can understand it is a special night for staff but on the other the restaurant was advertised as open and open until 21:00. They knew we had a booking at 17:30 (we could have come earlier if needed and we were never asked if we wanted desert initially. The way we were handled was disappointing. There were many opportunities for the waiter to speed us up or to let us know the kitchen would close early. If he didn 't know, he could have approached us with some sort of apology instead of hoping we wouldn 't want desert. We knew exactly what we wanted and could have ordered it at the start. We retreated to the bar to sign for the bill where we found the family who had been turned away from their reservation. The receptionist was mortified and said she 'd relay these (and the other? events to the manager the next day. The brilliant barman did his best to save the day with his joviality. We saw he ended up making the family something himself with whatever he could find in the kitchen. The whole while the waiter still found time to chat with a man at the bar. I can only imagine positive reviews relate to another waiter or from members of tour groups where the guide makes things happen.
We stayed at the hotel for a night. The rooms were clean, the staff was very friendly and helped us a lot with recommendations for activities in the area. The hotel location is amazingly one minute from the Nordkette cable car station, a 10-minute walk from Innsbruck's old town and a 2-minute walk from a supermarket and parking. Very recommended!
Amazing hotel and amazing staff are very helpful!!!! 10 min from the city center 1 min from the cable car 1 min from the bus stop 20 min from the alpen Zoo
Modern hotel minimal toiletries, comfortable bed, clean room, nice modern bathroom. Nice restaurant, breakfast, bar and gift shop. Great place to stay in Innsbruck.
