Feedback gevenI visited this hotel in May 2023 and had a great experience. It was just a lovely walk from the city center and surprisingly peaceful, given its proximity to the heart of the city. The staff were incredibly friendly, and our garden suite was spotless and well-equipped. Overall, the property offered excellent value for money. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Inverness.
Lovely afternoon tea had here at the Kingsmills hotel, I booked it last minute 10pm, went the next afternoon , I had requested quite a few things (food), wow everything was what I requested for and more they done amazing. Thank you! Highly recommend the afternoon tea. Really enjoy ourselves, service was great all staff welcoming and friendly. The ladies bathrooms are beautiful too.
I stayed in the new building and my room was fantastic, offering a lovely view of the golf course. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was quite good. We dined in the old building, which features a charming restaurant and bar. The food was great and the service was decent. The location is also excellent, just a short walk from the downtown area.
Firstly, the table we were seated at felt a bit cramped. We had three people on each side and the seventh person at the end, which made it quite tight. A round table would have provided more space and comfort for everyone. Additionally, the four ladies in our group who had dietary restrictions received their sandwiches and cakes on separate plates. While we understand the need for distinction among dietary requirements, presenting their food on what looked like dinner plates felt a bit excessive and less refined. The scones were served on two large plates, accompanied by jam and cream, which was fine, but the way everything was arranged left something to be desired. The cake stand was squeezed onto the already crowded table, followed by the pots for tea and coffee. While the staff was friendly, they seemed quite busy, and although they kept our teapots filled, they did not clear away the used ones, which added to the clutter. As you can imagine, the appearance of our table was far from aesthetically pleasing. We also felt that the experience could have been elevated with the inclusion of a tablecloth and proper china cups, which are traditional for afternoon tea. Instead, we felt as though we were seated at a canteen table with a Perspex top. We apologize if this comes off as critical, but such settings can detract from the enjoyable ambiance typically found in a cozy afternoon tea with loved ones.
Should say we 've stayed before over a number of years. Both in the newer building and in the garden rooms and been very happy. We booked at short notice this time and had our dog with us. Maybe that was a mistake. Garden rooms were taken and although it was thought we might be able to move to one on second night this was not possible. We were quite , actually very, disappointed with our stay this time, unfortunately. Room decor really old and worn furniture scratched and stained ,like a 1980s room really. Badly in need of upgrading. I said to reception we were not happy with run down room they said we had a dog . Told on booking we could eat in the lounge area with the dog but lounge transpired to be the busy ,noisy, area right in front of reception not what we knew as the lounge area above the restaurant. So we didn 't do that as it would not have been pleasant. Breakfast in room was OK we did not want to eat it in front of people checking out in reception area. But not what we wanted to do and an additional cost of course. Staying in garden rooms with the dog I imagine would be fine. But we had a miserable room and unpleasant stay, and its not the cheapest. Maybe they don 't seem that geared up to dogs. One photo by way of example.
