I tried the "Apollo fish," which was essentially deep-fried fish drenched in curry sauce—definitely not what I expected, especially since it's advertised as a must-try item on their menu. I also ordered the "Vijayawada boneless chicken biryani," but it tasted more like fried rice with boneless chicken and had a disappointing flavor. It didn't resemble biryani in any way, and the gravy served with it had a watery consistency. I would not recommend this place to anyone due to the slow service and poor ambiance.
Additionally, the food is served on paper plates and in deli containers, which is rather off-putting. The prices are outrageous, especially given the portion sizes. The curries, in particular, contain very little meat, and most dishes lack the depth of flavor that authentic Indian cuisine should have. If a restaurant charges a high price, patrons rightfully expect the dishes to justify that cost. I always leave feeling a bit cheated after dining here. On a positive note, our server was pleasant, and the Apollo Fish was flavorful (though still overpriced for the portion size). Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant and personally would not choose to eat here again.
Sitafal (sugar apple lassi) tasted extraordinary. Tried Haleem for the first time in my life, it a was worse. On top, there was a beat in it. I just gave them back the haleem. Chicken Briyani was also very average. Would give 0 for ambiance and space. Justone Briyani was $18.99, not worth the money.
We ordered biryani which is no where close to Biryani. They recommend chicken dum curry and it tasted like some lotion. I ordered butter naan. It?s just naan there?s no butter it was soggy and dry. Haleem is disheartening. Taste average and justlook at the presentation. I paid $13 for Haleem. Thanks will never recommend or come back here.
The quality of the biryani is average to slightly above average. This restaurant is primarily a takeout spot rather than a sit-down establishment, although there are a few tables available. However, don't anticipate excellent table service or thorough cleaning. The prices are somewhat high, which might have been acceptable if the quality matched the expectations set by the original Pista House. Unfortunately, even the original location in India has experienced a decline in quality over the years and is now just a shadow of its former self.
