We started with cocktails in the cocktail bar, where the staff made beautiful drinks. The meal in the lake view restaurant was also great, with welcoming and friendly staff. The hall is a hidden gem and very beautiful, especially with the view of the lake in the evening. For our meal, we had a delicious mushroom potage amuse bouche and freshly baked bread rolls, a beetroot and feta salad, and a perfectly cooked Chateaubriand to share. The meat was expertly carved at the table by Alwin and served with chunky chips, portobello mushroom, sliced tomato, and extra sides of carrots and broccoli with a blue cheese sauce. Although I couldn't manage dessert, they sounded divine. The meal was great value for money and I highly recommend a visit to this truly excellent place to eat. Thank you x
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The restaurants were fantastic, with the brasserie offering a quiet atmosphere and delicious Seabass and fajitas, while the fine dining experience with chateaubriand and peppercorn sauce was excellent. The staff were also very friendly. The room we stayed in was lovely but a bit outdated. The spa was pleasant, but it seemed like some adults spent a lot of time drinking in the hot tub, making it difficult for us to find a place to relax. The surrounding area was beautiful with lots of different walks to enjoy. My only suggestion would be to remove the dead palm tree from the main stairs and give some indoor plants some more care. Overall, a wonderful experience.
I recently dined at the lake view restaurant for dinner and was extremely disappointed with the food quality, price, and particularly the poor service provided by the restaurant manager. The food lacked taste and was of low quality. I had planned to bring my in-laws to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary as they had stayed there for their honeymoon, but I have changed my mind due to this disappointing experience.
Attended the lakeside restaurant as a non resident (was unable to stay as no rooms for dogs were not available, but that would have been another story). This was a celebration for our Ruby Wedding Anniversary which at 40 years was worth celebrating in Style. My first disappointment was that there were no tablecloths on the table, the brochure portrayed there was. But that aside it was set beautifully Starters of scallops were delicious My lamb was also delicious although a little rare for my liking my taste buds got and education The same could not be said for my husband 's seabass which at £28 you should at least expect it to be cooked fully but unfortunately it wasn 't When this was pointed out the response was exceptionally disappointing as the chef apparently stated that because of the freshness of thier fish it is often served translucent but when my husband pointed out that it was raw and not translucent to be told it was a matter of taste was exceptionally condescending but it was to be replaced Obviously the chef was not happy and the replacement was served as the server stated well done and she was right it was overcooked as since when is fish served well done!!! Obviously rather than create a scene my husband did not complain or tell me till later Dessert for me did not live upto expectation either but was well presented and very tasty This did put a blot on the evening there was some redemption in the fact they presented us with a plate saying happy 40th anniversary with a chocolate each (but I expected that in a 4 star establishment) Coffee was arranged for us in the lounge but left us feeling like second class citizens as we were not resident So thanks but no thanks for helping this be a memorable occasion but for all the wrong reasons. I don 't think we will return for future celebrations
I was in charge of booking somewhere for our 5 year anniversary this year and I left it to the last minute. Of course The Lake View Restaurant was fully booked (for the month! but they put me on a cancellation list and managed to fit us in for a festive Sunday lunch. The whole experience was so special. Perfect for our special occasion. We were greeted with a congratulations upon our arrival and treated to exceptional service and outstanding food. My partner said it was the best beef he has ever had and it was the best seasbass I've ever had. We were taken to the lounge after our desserts and enjoyed hot drinks by the fire we had to take our mince pies home as could not manage those! We will be recommending Armathwaite Hall to all.
