The three-course menu for £19 was exceptional and we found it to be very good value. We enjoyed the wild mushroom soup with truffled oil and the beef, both of which were excellent. The meat was a bit cold, but it was still delicious. The background music, however, was not quite fitting for the sophisticated atmosphere, as it was tinny pop music. The service was excellent and overall, it was a very good experience.
I had never been to a tasting menu before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I needn't have worried! There were 12 of us in our group, and we were seated in the private dining room at the hotel. Our waiter, Liam, was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and fun. The 10-course tasting menu took all evening - we started at 7:30 pm and didn't finish until around 11:00 pm. The courses were varied and flavorful. We were initially told it was a 5-course menu, so there were lots of surprised faces when our fifth course turned out to be a risotto! My favorite courses were the cheese souffle, truffle risotto, and fillet of beef. The waiter would provide a little announcement before each course, explaining what it was and why it was put together, which was a nice touch. The wine was great, although there was a slight error with the selection made by the company we booked through. However, Liam and the manager discreetly sorted it out with no fuss. We also enjoyed some strong yet flavorful cocktails, and the bar staff seemed to enjoy creating new ones. Overall, it was an experience I would gladly repeat - a wonderful evening with excellent service and delicious food in a fabulous setting. It couldn't be faulted!
My partner and I stayed at the hotel for a few nights and decided to try the taster menu at The Oyster Bar on our first night. Surprisingly, we were the only diners that evening, but the experience was absolutely fantastic. Feye, our server, was excellent at describing the dishes and ensuring that we had a great dining experience. Despite some initial hesitations about certain items on the menu, such as pig cheeks and venison, we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious they were. The presentation of the dishes on slate and the use of white gloves for serving cutlery added a touch of elegance to the meal. The service was top-notch and the atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. We have dined at many high-end restaurants in London, but The Oyster Bar stood out for its beautiful, tasty, and approachable experience. The bar staff were attentive and made us feel at ease, unlike some other establishments where a formal atmosphere can be intimidating. I cannot fathom why this place does not have a Michelin star - it truly deserves one. Additionally, there is a Brasserie restaurant at the same location which offers equally delicious food in a more relaxed setting. The hotel itself has lovely rooms and there is also a spa on site. If you appreciate good food, do not hesitate to give The Oyster Bar a try. You may be pleasantly surprised by the exceptional dining experience it offers.
If you have a few extra pennies to spend on your holiday or if you are at the Lakeside Park Hotel for a special occasion, I can strongly recommend you dine at the Oyster Room. A small dining room with approx 10 tables and the most fabulous food. Our sincere compliments to the chefs. At our Taster Menu dinner the staff explained in detail what were eating and looked after us well. The dining room is beautifully decorated in a minimalistic way but feel the ambiance of the room could have been enhanced by candles on the tables. With a view of the lake it is a perfect setting. Enjoy!
This is a most special place, my now husband asked my father for my hand in marriage here and it is that sort of place. magical settings with spectacular food....perfection!
