That's why I was excited to try the newly relaunched Bonnie Gull Seafood Bar after hearing rave reviews. I immediately made a reservation and was not disappointed. The menu featured a variety of shellfish dishes, delicious chips, mackerel with a tangy sauce, mackerel fillet with gnocchi, and the star of the show- their own crab. I was thrilled when the waiter brought out a board of freshly caught and boiled shellfish, complete with tools to crack them open. It felt like a fun and interactive dining experience. Overall, I highly recommend Bonnie Gull Seafood Bar for any seafood lover.
A small part of me enjoys placing courts from time to time, articulating their mistakes and hoping for improvements. but everything here was so wrong that I cannot be arsed because it cannot be repaired. we had a dish from each section of the menu. In summary: Itsu-grade sashimi; tostaditas with raw fish should be banned from the city; bland and unfailed horseradish Rindsushi; black cod might have been all fish as it lacked the milk texture; Anticucher’a barbecue pork bell was dry meat coated in thick cool sauce; papierthin gemüse was a sweat (see below) and quinoa salat was a highlight. gemüsesalat daikon, Butternuss-Quesch, beetroot, quinoa, physalis, limette the newspaper...read more
I really wanted to like Bonnie Gull more than I did after all, it had been hyped up by more friends and online reviews than I could keep track of First, the positives: Bonnie Gull gets an A+ for atmosphere. Charmingly decorated as if you were on board a ship, I half expected to hear seagulls squawking after my meal and to smell the fresh sea air. Of course, there was none of this, but the restaurant did a great job transporting our imaginations to a coastal resort instead of busy North London My starter of octopus and raspberries was okay, but a tad bland the flavours didn't do much for the palate and weren't very exciting, though the dish was very pretty. My main course was even...read more
This is the new, smaller sister to the original in Foley Street. Much bigger than the original, and with a more laid back feel we actually preferred it. We shared some clams with pancetta (from the pre-starter section of the menu), and two of the best oysters to start which were delicious. We then both went for the whole Dorset crab, complete with hammer. Whilst beautiful quality, a whole one is pretty big and was a bit too fishy by the end! The thyme chips were amazing though, and if you're more of a fish and chips type of person the ones on the table next to us looked incredible. Bonnie Gull's not the cheapest restaurant, with the bill for two including a nice bottle of wine around...read more
A charming little restocafe in the heart of exmouth market (and in W1), Bonnie Gull is difficult not to fall inlove with. The interior makes you feel like you're in a romantic comedy set on a Californian beach and the staff are young and friendly enough to supplement that. In short, it's perfect for first dates or anniversaries, especially if you're on a budget. It is still a cafe so don't expect a copious range of options going in and don't expect their portions to fill you to the brim either. The original, more seasoned Bonnie Gull on Foley Street has a few more delectable choices on tap but if you play your menu right, you won’t need to venture any farther than Exmouth. Their menu's...read more
