Dolls House - Islington

3.5 This place is nice. A bit dark. The waiters are good. And with many groups of women the vibe is good. The food isn’t so good. By simply improving that I would increase my stars. I would go back as the bottomless was good!

I celebrated my 30th birthday and had a great night. Staff were very helpful and accomodating. Venue was lovely, music good (rnb/pop and food was quite good considering the price (quite cheap for a place like this in Islington . I do have 2 complaints however, one is the lack of air con. I specifically asked about air con before booking as I have learned from previous birthdays and was promised it will be there. I could see the unit but it wasn't on and we asked several times and it didn't impact everyone dancing as it was boiling! Another issue were the bouncers, they were very rude to my family and that was unnecessary despite complainging to the manager who did nothing. Otherwise, all the other workers were friendly! We hired the Ballroom pretty last minute for our office's summer party. Nadine was great at helping me organise it and explaining everything to me. They were very flexible with our various dietary requirements and also with how we paid for the event, they were able to adjust to suit our processes which meant that we were actually able to go ahead with the event. I had been worried the food might not be enough for everyone but it definitely was, everybody also thought the food was delicious. The staff on the night were very helpful and went out of their way to make sure our night went well and everyone had fun and this was definitely noticed and appreciated amongst staff. Everybody said they had an amazing time and they loved the venue and food, I can't recommend this venue enough.

Visited Saturday lunch intending on having the brunch menu. Quirky building at first glance it appeared chabby chic but soon realised it was quite dirty. Walked in they only serve craft ales as beer no normal larger for the hubby. Ordered 2 drinks both had run out at noon on a Saturday so no one had checked the pulls. Had 2 bottles of Sol, asked for sliced lime which the staff used their fingers. it was quite lively upstairs as they do a bottomless offer. Decided not to eat there so got the bill which had a service charge on? Not even waitress service so didn’t pay the extra. Won’t be back.

Additionally, hiring the room for the day meant having a designated barman present throughout, who unfortunately lacked initiative and seemed disinterested in his role. Some orders were even delivered late, with one arriving after most guests had finished eating. There was also a lack of a designated point of contact to address any issues that arose throughout the day. Overall, the room did not have the "wow" factor we were hoping for in a surprise party venue. We would not choose to book here again and would advise others to visit the venue in person before making a deposit to ensure satisfaction.
