When we arrived around 6pm, there were already a few tables enjoying their meals. Not realizing the portion sizes, we ordered fries/chips with various dipping sauces for an appetizer, which were delicious. For our main courses, I had the roast beef and my husband had the pork. The plates were huge, filled with roasted root vegetables, cabbage, cauliflower, potatoes, broccoli, and carrots, all smothered in a tasty brown gravy and topped with a delightful Yorkshire pudding. While my beef was a bit tough, my husband's pork was perfect. After finishing our meals, we were both pleasantly full. The food was fantastic, the price was great, and our friendly server, who happened to be a cute blond, was attentive and thorough. Despite suffering from jetlag and some confusion over the local currency, we wished we could have given him an extra tip for the excellent service. Overall, we highly recommend The Winchester for a delicious British meal, and we definitely plan on returning in the future.
The service was lovely and the Sunday roast was fantastic, especially considering it was 2 for £20! Everything was fresh, and they even made the roast potatoes extra crispy just like we asked.
You can't go wrong with two roasts for twenty pounds on a Sunday! After being shocked by the high prices of dining out in London, this offer was a pleasant surprise. The food was incredibly tasty, served quickly, and the staff were warm and friendly. What else could you ask for?
I visited early evening so there was plenty of space and I enjoyed terrific service. But the food was excellent and represented great value for money
Took my wife, son and grandson to this place for an Easter lunch, was truly awful. Had a family meal here on Sunday, 1st April. My son and grandson had Roast Half chicken and Cajun chicken strips which apparently was adequate but the vegetables with the roast were undercooked. My wife and I had roast lamb which we both agreed was probably the worst bar/pub meal we have ever had. The lamb was so fatty, the vegetables were uncooked and the cauliflower cheese was watery and it was not hot. Terribly disappointed, the staff were stand-offish and not very customer friendly, didn't even say thank you or goodbye, got the impression we were intruding on their time. One guy (the manager? was never off his phone, 1/10 only because the drinks were ok.
