I found this restaurant on the second-to-last day of my week-long stay, and I really wish I had discovered it earlier. The portions are huge, so I recommend trying the half sizes, as they still provide a substantial meal, in my opinion. The service is outstanding, and while it wasn’t crowded in the early morning, I did have to wait about five minutes at 10 a.m.
The food is homemade and absolutely delicious. The service is fantastic!
Just a heads up, they only accept cash, but don’t let that stop you! We stumbled upon this little gem while driving out of Seattle and searching for a lunch spot. The chicken salad and egg salad sandwiches we ordered were exceptional, and the rhubarb crisp for dessert was simply divine, especially with the homemade whipped cream on top! The owner was very chatty and friendly, ensuring we were satisfied with our meal. We enjoyed our food on the cozy back patio, nestled in the shade of the old-growth trees surrounding the house. It was truly wonderful. If we’re ever in the area again, this will definitely be our go-to for lunch.
I used to buy a 5-gallon bucket of Muligatawny soup every Christmas to serve to our 40-some guests, and there was never any leftover! It brings back such delicious memories! - Fran Carpenter
