I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The cashier/hostess was quite rude when I requested a detailed breakdown of my take-out charges. She charged me a price that was higher than what was advertised, adding an extra $0.75 without any explanation. The poor service left a negative impression on me. I can't recommend this place, as it doesn't authentically represent Japanese cuisine. The prices are extremely high, even for basic items like Coke. There are many excellent Japanese steakhouses in the beach area, such as Chizu and Ichiban, which make this place not worth the hassle. I certainly won't be coming back.
The food was extremely disappointing and tasted as if it had been left out for three days. It was overpriced, and the service was slow, unprofessional, and unfriendly. Both the sushi and grilled dishes were subpar, and the overall atmosphere fell short of expectations—from the sushi bar and grill table to the restroom. The restroom was lacking tissue and soap, and the waitstaff was quite rude. There was nothing genuinely Japanese about the establishment, apart from its name. My girlfriend was nearly nauseated when she found a dead spider in her tempura dish, and the manager refused to provide a refund. I've had much better meals at Publix. Matsu is by far the worst Japanese restaurant in the Jacksonville area. Did you find this review helpful?
