The seat I chose by the window had many ants, making me uncomfortable leaving my bag there. I ordered pineapple sake that was never delivered. The menu did not have labels for vegan options, so I ended up ordering two rolls: one spicy and one crunchy. However, they brought me one plain and one crunchy, both with the same vegetable filling. The seaweed salad was unlike any I had tried before. The waitress cleared my plate while I was still chewing, even though there weren't many customers in the restaurant. They also brought a non-vegan caramel chew with the receipt, despite me mentioning my dietary preference. The sushi itself was fresh but lacked flavor. Overall, for vegan sushi, I would recommend going to Ohana instead.
On our final night in Jaco, we decided to visit this restaurant. The sushi was delicious, fresh, and exactly what we were looking for. We sampled all three vegan options and enjoyed each one. The service was excellent, with the chef, who spoke English, taking our order and handling all the preparation. Although the waitress's English was not as proficient as the chef's, she had no trouble attending to us and processing our payment. If we had visited earlier in our trip, we would have definitely returned multiple times. The prices were very reasonable and the food was definitely worth a try.
My partner and I enjoyed the crispy vegetable sushi, the vegetable teishoku, and the vegetable donburi at this restaurant, and we found it all to be incredibly delicious! The service was excellent as well. It is clear that the restaurant understands veganism and offers great options for those following a vegan diet.
Although I usually refrain from giving negative reviews, I am uncertain about the vegan options at this restaurant. Despite the friendly staff, my partner and I had some concerns about the authenticity of the vegan dishes. We inquired multiple times about the vegan options and even had the manager verify that our order was vegan. We enjoyed the sushi rolls with wasabi for dinner, but the next day my partner found an egg in his ramen soup. While I understand that mistakes can happen, it is disappointing when we were assured multiple times that our meal was vegan. This experience highlights the risks of dining at non-vegan restaurants.
I was looking forward to dining at this restaurant based on the positive reviews, but I ended up being disappointed. The table I chose by the window had so many ants that I didn't feel comfortable leaving my bag there. I ordered pineapple sake, which was never brought to me. The menu didn't have any vegan labels, so after speaking with the server, I ordered two rolls, a spicy roll and a crispy roll. However, they brought me a flat roll and a crispy roll with the exact same sweet filling. It was disappointing. The server cleared my plate while I was still eating, claiming they were very busy even though there were only three tables occupied. They also brought a non-vegan caramel chew even though I had specifically requested vegan options. The sushi itself tasted fresh, but it wasn't anything special. Overall, for vegan sushi, there are better options at Ohana.
