We could hear the lovely music from the bar, we could have a conversation without yelling and we could communicate with our attentive and observant host when needed. We split two appetizers, the salmon cakes and pickled vegetables, and both were incredible. I had the burger amazing! Definitely skip the extra patty as an add on, the burger is quite enough as it is. The flavor was incredible and it was cooked to perfection (medium rare). My partner had the crispy salmon and I got to try some; if I had not ordered the salmon cakes it would have been my first choice of entree. We were too full for dessert, but enjoyed the wine and beer selection and was quite content with our evening.
Excellent breakfast eggs cooked perfectly with mouth watering pancakes served with well balanced coffee. Great service as well. An all round wonderful breakfast experience!
We were there for the $75 Valentine's dinner. I should have sent the lobster tails back the instant they arrived. I have never seen any so small. And so overcooked I had to scrape the meat from the shells with my fingernails. There was no drawn butter. The pasta was undercooked and had no flavor. The total dinner was over $300 and was a major, major disappointment. My partner's steak was decent, but her vegetables undercooked. I was caught up in the romantic Valentine's mood, I should have returned the tiny, overcooked lobster tails immediately. The setting is nice enough and the service good, but for $300 we deserved better. I know we will look for another option in the future. The lobster at Ruth's Chris was fantastic and priced about the same.
We went for Portland Dumpling Week and the perogis that they served were amazing!! Unfortunately, that was the best part of the meal. I had the chicken paillard and a side of fingerling potatoes. They were quite good, but nothing exceptional, especially for the price point. My partner had the Dungeness Crab pasta and it was terrible. It came out cold, looked quite sloppy (and not in a good way), lacked seasoning and had little to no substance to it. The service was not terrible, but not great either. The wait for our drinks and food was a bit long for my liking.
The restaurant was lovely and the location was perfect for a pre-show meal....easy walk to the Schnitz!! Their cocktails were amazing and the food was delicious. Wait staff were so pleasant and helpful. I definitely recommend.
