Taqueria Downtown - Jersey City

The food at this establishment is always delicious, as they are connected to the sit-down restaurant Taqueria Downtown. However, during my visit last night, the overall customer service could have been improved. There was an issue with a declined card, and the cashier announced loudly that it was due to insufficient funds. It would have been better if they had asked for another card instead. This made the person paying for me feel uncomfortable as it was their first time there. On the positive side, the drinks were great, but you are required to purchase them for takeout. There are limited seats available inside where you can wait for your order, as well as one or two seats outside. The prices are also very reasonable.

The tacos had a rich flavor to them. You can’t beat the price here compared to the rest of downtown. This location isn’t a sit and eat place. There are benches you can stand and eat at.

The tamales at this restaurant are way too expensive and disappointing. I was intrigued to try them after passing by the restaurant several times. I have had a variety of tamales in the past and know what a good tamal should taste like. However, the tamales here are extremely small, almost the size of a taco dorado. At $4.95 each, they are not worth the price. I ordered one of each type they had, but was left feeling ripped off by the lack of size and flavor. I would not recommend this place if you are craving tamales. There are much better options in the area that offer larger, more affordable tamales. Overall, a big thumbs down for this restaurant.

Surprise find during a leisure stroll around the area and I must say the food is divine. The prices are really good for the quantity and quality . Ordered the Fish Tacos and Tostadas and the salsas on them are some of the best I’ve had in recent times . Not a big place to sit down but definitely enough space to grab a quick bite. I was intrigued by their margaritas mixers and would definitely try them next time.

This little restaurant has limited indoor seating but is perfect for takeout. Their generous portion sizes and delicious food make it a must-try. The fish and carnitas tacos were particularly tasty.
