While there are plenty of pricey, greasy restaurants in the area, Lachs Spot offers fresh and delicious options like salmon patties, Lachsburgers, and chowder. Although it's a food stand with some outdoor seating, we highly recommend it. It's a hidden gem in Juneau with reasonable prices!
It's quite the gem! Nestled in a space smaller than a shipping container, but just slightly bigger than a Ford F250, the girls here whip up a limited menu of ground salmon dishes made from fish that likely swam in the sea just a day before. The freshness is incredible and the flavors are delicious. I would have preferred my salmon burger without cheese, as I enjoy my fish on its own, but the virgin tuna without cheddar was still good. The baby salmon cakes come highly recommended, and the burgers are fantastic (make sure to grab a handful of napkins from under the parasols—you'll be glad you did). The chowder is decent, but skip the soft-serve; creating the perfect swirl is trickier than it seems and the ice cream is softer than you'd want for a quick lick.
Delicious, simple and simple! There's a reason the line went along the block, but it was worth waiting. If they could only add more seats on the terrace!
The salmon cake was absolutely delicious! I really enjoyed the brown sauce that accompanied it. The atmosphere was lively and fun. The prices are very reasonable compared to other dining options in Alaska. If you're in a rush or not looking for a full-service dining experience, this is the perfect spot for you. It's just a short walk from the Red Dog Saloon and about five minutes from the cruise ship shuttle or the base of the Mount Roberts Tramway.
There salmon burgers are very good. And, for Juneau, it is pretty reasonably priced.
