The soup containers were the nice, heat-preserving kind, which was a great touch. As always, the soups were delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly as well. We visit this restaurant a few times a year for lunch or dinner, and I believe their fish dishes are better than those at many other highly-rated places around here.
We visited Chowderhead for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, and the service was outstanding. I assumed there were multiple cooks in the kitchen because our dishes were arriving so promptly and hot. To my surprise, there was just one chef, and he was both fast and skilled. I would definitely return, and I highly recommend Chowderhead for a fantastic meal.
I started with the New England Clam Chowder (4/5), which was the highlight of the meal. It had great flavor, with tender potatoes and clams, and a strong herbaceous taste. However, I've had better chowder in Houston. Next, I tried the Fried Clam Strips (2/5). Unfortunately, they were completely bland. Even with tartar sauce, the clams lacked any seasoning, and adding salt and pepper didn't make a difference. Lastly, I ordered the Lobster Roll (1.5/5). I typically prefer the cold version, but I mistakenly chose the hot one this time. It turned out mushy, and you have to add mayonnaise yourself. The lobster had a fishy aftertaste, which was disappointing. Overall, I was not satisfied with the meal and felt it wasn’t worth the $63 I spent.
Exactly what I have been craving!! I heard their ad on the radio heading down I-95 for work and when they said they were from Bahston and it was Real New England Seafood and they had Steamahs!!! I had to stop and i am so glad I did!! Great Boston memorabilia on the walls and unbelieveably Delicious seafood!! Cup of clam chowder 4 out of 5 could be thicker 1 pound of steamah clams 5 out of 5! Whole belly fried clam roll 5 out of 5 And a lobster roll to go for later in the Hotel!! I will definitely be back!!
Authentic New England seafood! Casual atmosphere, great service and fairly priced meals, even things marked as market. I had the lobster pie which is basically just chunks of lobster in butter and sherry with breadcrumbs toasted on top served in a cast iron dish. It's delish! Nothing else really to it but delish! Cost $45 (listed as market) and came with two sides. Date had the lobster roll priced as market which came to $35. Side salad is MASSIVE and easily fed two of us. Topped off dinner w homemade Boston creme pie which was fantastic.
