I loved the mistsuppet, there were different vegetables every day. there was a certain time that we came to dinner every day. everything was made fresh and served. there were only two more guests during our time (father and son) the environment was very intimate and felt very personal and unique. we went to the view and it was an amazing view of the sea and the rocky beach. we drove here in a car rental. it was really easy to find as there were several markings and signs. the owner had us park right from the building. If we ever return to yakushima, we would stay here instead of the accommodations we have chosen before. overall great experience, courtesy and tasty.
Not a vegetarian place, but they are happy, special requests such as vegan, no wobble garlic, etc tasty eating, elegantly presented, good portion size (more courses per meal) beautiful location on the cliff with view of ozean private cabins included for rent with meal; a bit expensive in comparison to stay in average local guesthouses; more frugal veg visiter on the island could rent a bed or a room in chinryu, sen no see http: chinryu.com index2.html or http: www17.ocn.ne.jp ~sennoie narrow selection at meal times can cramp their plans for daily activities on the island; must be in the time to dinner home when they stay here friendly service; some employees speak some English semi-communal restaurants; they might or may not have a chance to make new friends on dinner table, not to find the easiest place to find the island;
The owner was accommodating to our vegan lifestyle and allowed us to stay for a few days, which was a lifesaver. We contacted him via email in English to inquire about vegan meals, and although he was not a restaurant, he offered us accommodation and agreed to host us when a guest house was available. The food was delicious with a variety of options, and the atmosphere was intimate and personal. The view of the sea and rocky beach was amazing. Overall, a great experience with courteous service and tasty food. If we ever return to Yakushima, we would definitely stay here again.
This restaurant is not vegetarian, but they are willing to accommodate special requests such as vegan or no onion/garlic dishes. The food is delicious and beautifully presented, with generous portion sizes offering several courses per meal. Located on a cliff overlooking the ocean, the setting is picturesque. Private cabins are available for rent with meals included, though it is a bit pricey compared to average local guest houses. Budget-conscious vegetarian visitors may prefer to stay at Chinryu An, Sen no Ie, or another place where they can cook their own meals. Meal times are limited, which could affect your daily activities on the island. The service is friendly, with some staff members able to speak English. Dining is semi-communal, providing an opportunity to socialize with other guests. The restaurant can be a bit hard to find, so keep an eye out for a small sign indicating the side road to turn off. Taller individuals should be mindful of doorways and hallways designed for shorter people.
The owner of the restaurant was extremely accommodating and understanding of our vegan lifestyle. Despite not being a traditional restaurant, he made an exception for us and allowed us to pay for food for a couple of days in the fall of 2016. We reached out to him via email to discuss purchasing vegan meals, and he kindly agreed to accommodate us when one of his guest houses was available. The food was delicious, with a variety of dishes, including tasty miso soup with different vegetables each day. The dining experience was intimate and personal, with only two other guests present during our stay. The owner also provided helpful suggestions for other dining options on the island. The location was easy to find with clear markings and signs, and the view of the ocean and rocky beach from the overlook was breathtaking. Overall, it was a great experience and if we were to return to Yakushima, we would choose to stay here again.
