"We're in a great mood after dining here. We tried the Kalua Pig Cabbage and the Fish Tacos, and I have to say, the Fish Tacos at Lava Bowls are the best we've ever had! We live in Southern California, where fish tacos are everywhere, but nothing we've had there compares to these. We definitely plan to eat here again before we leave the island."

Yesterday at Kona Fair, I visited the Lava Bowls Hawaiian Food Truck, which had set up tables for customers to sit. They offered three plate options, and I decided to try the beef luau plate. Unfortunately, it was disappointing; instead of taro leaves, it contained a different type of green (really, it's supposed to be Hawaiian!). There was some meat in the dish, but it was difficult to find and even harder to enjoy. The food lacked the love and care that you'd expect from authentic Hawaiian cuisine. It didn’t taste like it had any genuine Hawaiian influence. I wouldn’t recommend spending your money here; consider using your fun pass credits on a different food truck.
