Even though they are supposed to open at 8:30, I've arrived five minutes early to be greeted by a crowd, they're popular with the locals.I go there for Dungeness crab from the live tanks. I've had some absolutely spectacular crabs there, as good as anything I've eaten in (yes) Dungeness and environs, and that's saying something. Of course, the main reason is availability and price, there are few live tanks in this huge city on the coast, which is odd. You can pay $25 at Redondo or $10 here, easy choice. Buy spider (sheep) crabs and rock crabs at Quality Seafood, get your Dungeness here. They have live fish of course, and a number of other things, good bargains in the frozen bins, like bags of dry scallops and mussels. The people are great, very friendly. Just pick your time right, or you'll be stuck on 10 until . . . well, you know.Note, if for some reason they are out of crabs (it happened once), you can try Nam Hoa around the block, most of the time they have crabs, and they were good. Just those two places north of Redondo, so far as I know.
LOVE this place! What a find. Fish couldn’t be any fresher!
I love the Dungeness crab there, it's priced reasonably, but make sure you count your change, the lady behind the register is very sneaky, she tried shorting me $10.00 twice. So count your change
I went this morning to buy 4 live tilapia and when they put them in the weighing scale I’ve noticed one of the tilapias color and the eyes are both white and I told the guy that this one tilapia has been dead for a while and he replace it with a live one and when I checked the floor inside where they are working I saw some dead tilapias on the floor and they are mixing the dead ones to the live one and pretending that they’re all live tilapias when they grab them from the floor after they scooped the fish from the tanks ? next time you’re buying pay attention when they drop the live tilapia on the floor and switching the dead ones.
