Stars And Stripes - Kalmar

Ate here a few times here in Kalmar, good atmosphere and great staff, good beer selection and sport on the tv’s.

I had a beef tenderloin, served with green pepper sauce, harissa paste, deep fried hasselback potatoes, and grilled vegetables. The dish was well prepared and well seasoned. My only real quarrel was the lack of balance. Each part of the dish was spicy in its own way, some chilli, some green pepper, and some black pepper. I however would have like a neutral base to balance the flavors. In my oppinion the potatoes could have been served with some plain salt instead of harissa (seeing as there were already harissa on top of the meat). Mostly a good experience and I'd be happy to dine here again.

The placed smelled a lot, like frying meat smell, Killed my appetite right away. If you order with their app (QR Code) it's very hard to get hold of a someone to ask for anything, you have to go the reception everytime. Food was ok!

Decent selection of beer and it's a lot better than the other nearby options. Music wasn't too loud compared to the other nearby places. Didn't try the food though.

We wanted to enjoy the afternoon in Kalmar over some drinks and nice meal, but were invisible to the staff. We were sitting for about 20min waiting to be served, but could not get hold of the staff, while others arriving after us were being served straight away, especially the regular and familiar faces. The idea of ordering via a qr code works for those who have phones with full battery and enough mobile data to download the app, which was not the case with us at that moment. It would be great if the staff occasionally goes around and cleans/wipes the tables, and checks the seats, as some birds decided it is a great toilet. The only good thing about the place is its central location.
